The Navy Submarine Base Kings Bay is located in the southeast corner of Georgia just north of the Georgia - Florida border. Most Navy personnel refer to the area as Kings Bay, but the base personnel that live in the area (along with all the locals) know the area as St. Marys, Georgia and the neighboring city of Kingsland, Georgia. These two cities border and blend with each other. Unless you know where the city line is or pay attention to the city limit signs, it is a bit difficult to tell where St. Marys ends and Kingsland begins.
Because St. Marys and Kingsland, Georgia are so closely related, Kings Bay sailors, officers, contractors, and government employees primarily live in these two municipalities. Both cities have positive things to offer and Kings Bay personnel live in both cities on a fairly equal split. For personnel that like rural living they must look a bit farther west into the Browntown, Woodbine, or general Camden County areas.
